10 Running backs who may give Philadelphia Eagles trouble in 2019
6. Dalvin Cook, Minnesota Vikings
‘The Birds’ travel to the same stadium they won the Super Bowl in week six (U.S. Bank Stadium) to meet the team they blew out to get there, the Minnesota Vikings. The Vikings got a measure of revenge in 2018 with a 23-21 victory at Lincoln Financial Field, and this one sets up to be a game surrounded with much hype.
Is there a mini-rivalry brewing between Philly and Minnesota?
Dalvin Cook battled injury while with the Florida State Seminoles. He’s battled injury in his first two seasons with the Vikes. There’s something you should understand though. If he’s healthy, he has all of the tools to be one of the best young backs in the league.
He can’t be ignored by Philly’s defense or their coaches.
7. Tarik Cohen, Chicago Bears
Tarik Cohen’s talent level is one of the reasons that the Bears felt good about trading Jordan Howard to ‘The Birds’. These two friends will find themselves on opposite sides of the field for the first time in their careers, and you know they’ll want to outdo one another.
Cohen had three receptions for 27 yards in Chicago’s 16-15 playoff loss to Philly last January. Expect to see more of him when the Bears and Eagles meet in week nine this season.
8. David Montgomery, also from the Chicago Bears
David Montgomery was on the Eagles radar last season and remained there all the way until the 2019 NFL Draft. ‘The Birds’ went with Miles Sanders at pick 53 in the second round. Montgomery went a round later, but his presence has made Chicago’s transition from Jordan Howard a little easier.
He’s now a part of Matt Nagy’s one-two punch in the ‘Windy City’. Let’s hope he doesn’t save his breakout game for November 3rd.
