10 Bold predictions for Philadelphia Eagles in 2019’s regular season
6. Sidney Jones snags four interceptions.
Barnett wasn’t the only guy taken in 2017’s draft. The hope was, in that group, they’d string together some key guys who would be a part of this team’s core for a while.
The jury has been out on Jones for a while, but in his third year in defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz’s scheme, he’ll put it all together. That means he gets through 2019 completely healthy. Here’s a prediction. Jones will snag four interceptions, placing him at the top of the list in that category for Philly’s secondary.
7. Carson Wentz throws at least 40 touchdowns.
In his first NFL season, Carson Wentz set a franchise record with 379 completions. In his second season, he was a legitimate MVP candidate and set a franchise record for touchdown passes on his final pass of the season. In 2018, he battled through injury. In 2019, it all comes together.
He’s had consistency in coaching. He’s familiar with all of the talent Philly has on offense, and with the additions ‘The Birds’ have made at the skill positions, this may be the best collection of skill players he’s ever had.
The numbers will reflect that. In 2019, for the first time in the history of ‘The Birds’, their quarterback will throw 40 touchdown passes.
