Philadelphia Eagles: Ronald Darby’s ready, Jalen Mills needs more time
The Philadelphia Eagles secondary isn’t quite one-hundred percent yet as Ronald Darby, and Jalen Mills are still dealing with rehab ahead of camp.
The time has finally come, and the Philadelphia Eagles have shown up to the Nova Care Complex to check-in for training camp on Wednesday. The good news this season is that there doesn’t seem to be any veterans holding out. And yes, that includes Malcolm Jenkins. However, just because there are no holdouts, doesn’t mean guys won’t be participating.
As we know, the Eagles had their fair share of injuries during the 2018 season. And the words ‘fair share’ is a complete understatement here. To put it just, the Eagles got walloped by the injury bug last year. Now, the 2018 issues are carrying on over to 2019. For the offseason, at least.
With training camp set to begin on Thursday afternoon, the Eagles are gearing up for their first set of sessions. While there’s no injury report out quite yet, it sounds like the Eagles could gain one cornerback for training camp, but will still be without another until further notice.
A new update on Ronald Darby:
Earlier in the week, reports came out regarding Eagles’ veteran cornerback, Ronald Darby. Apparently, Darby was set to start camp off on the PUP list. As Darby is recovering from a torn ACL, which he suffered back in November, he was supposed to ease back into camp later on. That may no longer be the case. As of Thursday morning, Darby is expected to practice.
According to The Philly Voice’s Jimmy Kempski, reports are going around the complex stating that Darby is expected to be present and ready to work. Now, that doesn’t mean he’s going to be a full participant exactly, but limited practice could be better than none. As Darby approaches yet another contract year, he’s taken an enormous gamble on himself and needs all the training he can get in order to solidify himself a solid long-term contract beyond 2019.
Jalen Mills to start on the PUP?
It seems as though Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby will reverse roles here. Initially, Darby was rumored to be starting camp on the PUP, but it sounds like that’s no longer the case. Jalen Mills on the other hand though will start training camp on the PUP list. To this day, we still don’t have too much information on Mills’ injury aside from the fact that he hurt his foot.
During last season, Doug Pederson downplayed the injury when discussing it, so everybody assumed he would only miss a short period. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. Eventually, the Eagles placed Mills on the Injured Reserve, ending his season. Now, we’re still unaware of his timeline, and the only thing we know is that he won’t practice just yet.
