Six months ago, Philadelphia Eagles right guard Brandon Brooks tore his Achilles. This month, he’s back to practicing.

The Philadelphia Eagles have yet to get fully healthy since their overload of injuries from last season. Throughout the year, the team lost a handful of significant players due to a variety of injuries. Nobody was safe on the Eagles’ roster at any point last year. And unfortunately, they lost two of their star-studded big guys in the trenches as late as the final game last season as well.

During the first half of the divisional playoff game against the New Orleans Saints, Eagles’ right guard Brandon Brooks went down with a lower-body injury. As he was unable to get up and walk it off on his own, the trainers had to cart him off the field.

He was later diagnosed with a torn Achilles. Later on in that game, defensive tackle Fletcher Cox suffered a lower-body injury of his own as well. Though Cox made it back to the field, he would undergo surgery after the season officially concluded for the Eagles.

Cox’s injury wasn’t expected to keep him away from the field for too long. Throughout the offseason, the defensive tackle was rumored to be ready for training camp. Brooks, on the other hand, though, was still up in the air. Torn Achilles are severe injuries to get past. So when Brooks mentioned he might be ready by the start of the season, it sure felt like a longshot.

However, the veteran guard might be correct. Although he missed the OTAs and minicamp portion of the offseason, Brooks was in attendance for day one of Eagles training camp. Not only was Brooks present though, but he was also suited up with all of his equipment, partaking in workouts, further revealing that the recovering veteran will avoid being placed on the PUP.

The Eagles are likely to take it slow with Brooks throughout camp. Although he participated in workouts early on during the first session, he would not be a part of any team drills. Instead, the Eagles have Halapoulivaati Vaitai playing in his absence. Week one has been the goal for Brooks from the jump, and it sure feels like he’s on the correct path to full recovery.
