Could Philadelphia Eagles nickel cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc be on his way out via trade? Some speculate that may be the case.

The Philadelphia Eagles kicked off the most important part of the offseason on Thursday as they began their 2019 NFL Training Camp sessions. Out 90 players, 89 guys were at least suited up and participating in limited drills. Though the Eagles aren’t fully healthy quite yet, they are working towards getting there. After their first practice session, it seems as though they came away healthy for the most part.

On Friday, veteran safety Blake Countess seemed to be the only healthy player from day one to not practice on day two. At least, that’s what it looked like at first. After a few minutes passed by with the team taking the field, many began to notice that an impact player from last year’s playoff run was not practicing, nor were they even in attendance on the field.

Eagles’ nickel cornerback Cre’Von LeBlanc didn’t spend the whole season with the team last year, but he was a surprisingly solid addition to the Birds when they were desperate for secondary players. Many guys came and went on a weekly basis as the team got desperate for corners and safeties. LeBlanc, on the other hand, was good enough to stick around.

This offseason, he was supposed to be gifted a chance to potentially win a starting position on the Eagles defense, but many are thinking the team may go in a different direction. On Friday, LeBlanc was absent from the Nova Care Complex just one day after looking utterly healthy on the field and in the locker room. Maybe he’s got an undisclosed injury. Or perhaps, the team has other plans for him.

Let the speculation begin

NJ Advanced Media’s Mike Kaye immediately thought the Eagles could be up to something when he noticed LeBlanc was absent on Friday. Considering the type of depth the Eagles currently have at the position, to think they would potentially trade a guy like LeBlanc is not too far-fetched. After all, LeBlanc was pretty much a diamond in the rough that they found midway through the year.

If the Eagles can get some solid value for LeBlanc, it’s a no-brainer to trade him. However, the Eagles would need to be fully confident in their recovering cornerbacks at this point. To this day, Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby are still not cleared to play. Although the Eagles still have Douglas, Jones, and Maddox ready to go, we all know how crucial depth is in this situation.
