According to a report, the Philadelphia Eagles are signing veteran cornerback Orlando Scandrick following his workout today at the NovaCare Complex.
Most of us figured all Spring and Summer that there would be a ton of attention paid to the Philadelphia Eagles cornerback position. After four days of training camp and just three on-field practices (the first full-pads practice was held on Saturday), there’s been no disappointment. We can now throw Orlando Scandrick‘s name into Philly’s cornerback mix.
Now, there’s a name we weren’t even mentioning yesterday. Fast forward, and, thanks to a report that was verified by the NFL Network‘s Mike Garafolo, Scandrick’s been signed by the Eagles after a successful Saturday workout at the NovaCare Complex.
That, ladies and gentlemen, is how fast things change in the NFL. Here’s the report by Garafolo confirming the news along with his previous report of the visit that came right before 10 AM EST.

The #Eagles are signing CB Orlando Scandrick following today’s workout, source says. Added depth at a position that’s a bit banged up and some veteran experience as well.

Things started getting interesting before Philly even took the field on Thursday. Ronald Darby and Jalen Mills have been idle with injuries. Cre’Von LeBalnc stayed in the locker room on Friday. That prompted rumors of a trade, but defensive coordiator Jim Schwartz answered the questions about that when he stated during a Friday presser that LeBlanc had been injured.
LeBlanc is in a walking boot. That means Rasul Douglas, Sidney Jones, and Avonte Maddox have all had to take turns running with the first team defense. Don’t look now, but Philly is, all of a sudden, a little thin at corner, and as Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network and NFL.com reported at about 2:50 PM EST. LeBlanc’s injury forced Philly to make a move.
Eagles CB Cre'von LeBlanc is out for the next several weeks while he deals with a foot sprain, source said. He was spotted in a boot today. No surgery required, so being ready for the start of the season is expected. This is one reason for the Orlando Scandrick interest.

So, here we are. Scandrick joins the ‘Birds’, and his veteran leadership should be a welcome addition to Philly’s locker room, a locker room that has more than it’s fair share of young guys. At the time of this writing, no details on the specifics of the deal had been released, but that’s no surprise. At least we all have a clearer understanding of what’s going on at the NovaCare Complex (sort of).
