With the Philadelphia Eagles taking some time off from on-field work on Sunday, why not take a few moments to analyze their newest member? Here’s a little background on Orlando Scandrick.

The NFL is a business. In fact, it’s big business. how many times have you heard that? Unfortunately, for the 1,696 professional athletes that will end up on someone’s 53-man roster in 2019, every single one of them will learn this fact soon enough if not later. The newest member of the Philadelphia Eagles, cornerback Orlando Scandrick, already has.

After ten seasons, nine if you throw out 2015 (he missed the entire campaign due to injury), and 125 games (that includes 69 starts), Scandrick’s career hit a bit of a snag. He’s now a journeyman corner who’s been on three rosters over the course of two seasons.

The Dallas Cowboys released him on March 17th of 2018. The rival Washington Redskins signed him to a two-year deal two days later but gave him his walking papers on August 14th. That’s when the Kansas City Chiefs brought him on board.

Unfortunately for Scandrick however, after 15 games with seven starts and 44 total tackles to go along with 13 passes defensed, a forced fumble and an interception, K.C. saw no reason to continue the arrangement.

That brings us to the present. With multiple injuries at the cornerback position, Philly brought Scandrick in for a workout on July 27th, and he never left. He’s been signed to a one-year deal. Here are three immediate talking points that come as a result.
