Ladies and gentlemen, the players are on record. Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz cracks 2019’s version of the NFL Top 100 at number 40.
Can we say this officially now? Philadelphia Eagles tight end Zach Ertz is a boss. No, seriously, he is. He’s not even thirty years old yet, and he’s got a Stanford education in his back pocket. Not only that, but he’s rich, happily married and universally recognized as one of the top tight ends in the game. He even climbed 28 spots on the NFL Top Players list to land at number 40 on 2019’s ranking.
Oh, there’s one more thing that hasn’t been mentioned yet. Everybody’s aware of the fact that he’s a Super Bowl champion and married to Julie Ertz, one of the heroes of the US Women’s National Soccer Team right?
Again, it needs to be said. Ertz is a boss. Check out his entry on the players’ list.

His 116 receptions in 2018 gave him the record for the most snags by a tight end in a single season, like ever. We’re talking about a lot of tight ends and 100 years of NFL football.
It didn’t matter if it was Carson Wentz, Nick Foles or Nate Sudfeld pitching the rock. ’86’ made plays. Philly fans have gotten used to that over the six years he’s been in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’. When his seventh gets underway, he’ll be on the field with one of the best collections of offensive talent that the Eagles organization has ever put on a playing field.
He may find out quickly that the ball will be spread around a little more, but even if that happens, expect Ertz to be a difference maker. If opposing defenses forget about him because the game plan is to key in on the likes of Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Dallas Goedert or Philly’s running game, it won’t be pretty.
’86’ has proven to be a threat in short-yardage situations, on third down and in the red zone. Trust and believe that Eagles fans have known how gifted he is for a while. Climbing almost 30 spots on the players ranking means he has their attention and the attention of the coaches too.
Check out his resume, and you’ll find 437 receptions, 4,827 receiving yards and 29 touchdowns. He’s one of those things Chip Kelly actually got right. Hey Eagles fans, 2019’s regular season is going to be a lot of fun.
