Now, John Mackey, Mike Ditka, and maybe even Tony Gonzalez or Kellen Winslow may have a problem with that, but the fact of the matter is there has never been a player at the position that’s been able to take over a game quite like Gronkowski. When it came to ranking tight ends, there was Gronk, then everyone else.
With a future first ballot Hall of Famer out of the picture (despite the obligatory “return” rumors), there are a few tight ends, including Ertz, who have strong arguments to call themselves the best.
