The Best of the Rest
Last season, George Kittle of the San Francisco 49ers (the 29th ranked player) broke the single season record for yards by a tight end with 1,377 while hauling in 88 balls and 5 touchdowns. Travis Kelce (ranked 21st on the countdown) of the Kansas City Chiefs, Jason Kelce’s brother, wasn’t far behind with 1,336 but caught ten touchdowns on 103 receptions.
Indianapolis Colts’ Eric Ebron, meanwhile, was on the receiving end of 13 touchdowns, which lead the league at the position a year ago, and good enough to garner the 66th ranking on the top 100.
They are all fantastic receivers, and very serviceable blockers. They are truly the total package.
Kittle was one of the only options on offense for an array of backup quarterbacks, and with the expected return of Jimmy Garappolo, it’ll only help improve his numbers.
Kelce, meanwhile, had the benefit of having MVP Patrick Mahomes as his quarterback, who threw for 5,087 and 50 touchdowns last season. Kelce is a cog on the wheel of arguably the most high powered offense in the NFL. Ebron has Andrew Luck throwing passes to him, one of the most accurate in the game, so all three will benefit from high level quarterback play.
