Joe Schobert

There were some reports that the Cleveland Browns were shopping Joe Schobert earlier in the offseason. Philly needs a linebacker. The Browns were also looking to deal Duke Johnson. Remember that? Maybe ‘The Birds’ could intrigue Cleveland with a draft selection in a later round or with one of the young guys who have been making names for themselves in training camp.

In Schobert, Philly gets a former fourth-round draft selection who has 275 tackles, 6.5 sacks, five forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two interceptions on his NFL resume. There’s just one issue. According to Spotrac, he’s set to make a little over $2 million in the final year of his deal. Would Philly value him that much?

Najee Goode

If snatching up someone who’s already familiar with Philly’s way of doing things is the idea, Najee Goode works. In 64 career games with the Eagles, Goode didn’t start any. As a matter of fact, he’s only appeared in four games in his entire NFL career, but he does add special teams value, something Philly likes and something Grugier-Hill used to provide.

His best year came in 2017 while with the Eagles. He’s currently on the Indianapolis Colts‘ roster. There’s a decent relationship between the Colts and Eagles franchises. Could a trade to bring Goode home be in the works?
