One of the Philadelphia Eagles leaders on defense, Malcolm Jenkins, did his part to stir up some competition and fire up Philly’s offense recently.

“Yesterday was the first time I heard Duce (Staley) really quiet in practice. That’s a rarity. That means we won”. Those were the words of one Malcolm Jenkins following the Philadelphia Eagles’ first full-tackling practice which went down about a week ago.

Credit Matt Mullin of The Philly Voice for the quote.

Jenkins is one of Philly’s leaders on defense. No scratch that. Jenkins is a leader, period. ’27’ appears to be pretty pumped up with what he’s been seeing from his teammates on defense. Who can blame him? Philly’s offensive line and their skill players have been hyped all season. Seeing the defense hold its’ own against, potentially, one of the NFL‘s best offensive units should fire up any Eagles fan and its’ players.

Here’s more ’27’, again, courtesy of Mullin’s story.

"I think it breeds competition and competition breeds improvement, so I think, for us, whatever we can do to make out here as hostile and competitive as possible, it makes games that much easier."

It appears that vaunted Eagles juggernaut was having a few issues against their defensive counterparts when the pads came on and things really got cranked up. They settled in however, and now, we’re seeing plays being made on both the offensive and defensive side of the ball.

Was it Jenkins’ unique wordplay that got them going? Maybe that had something to do with it. Jenkins value can’t be measured. He’s a leader on the field and in the locker room.

He’s even been seen giving some of the young guys in the secondary a few tips after practice.

You have to check out Alshon Jeffery’s hands. dark. Next

Look guys. We almost got through an entire story on Jenkins without bringing up his contract, but that won’t happen here. Come on Howie Roseman. Pay this man.
