4. Shelton Gibson, WR

These West Virginia guys don’t get the opportunity to garner starting reps, but they inevitably get to stick around for a while. Like Wendell Smallwood, Shelton Gibson had a lot of chances in Philly. Although he’s a fifth-round pick, the undersized wide receiver had the organization intrigued with his deep speed. Unfortunately, he hasn’t figured out how to burn a starting secondary.

Gibson was a preseason standout last year, as he torched backup cornerbacks and safeties and developed a strong connection with Nate Sudfeld. Once the regular season rolled around though, Gibson pretty much became a special teams only type of player. Had it not been for special teams, Gibson probably would’ve never made it back to the final roster in 2017.

Nowadays though, the Eagles are getting a wideout who specialized in special teams back once again in Mack Hollins. So that could mean the former West Virginia speedster’s days with the Eagles could be ending very soon, barring a major change this preseason.
