5. Josh Perkins, TE

Tell me — how many times did you get frustrated last season seeing the Eagles throw to some guy named Josh Perkins when they have Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert on board? It was puzzling, but at the same time, the Eagles were extremely thin on wide receiver depth early on in the year. Therefore, the six-foot-three-inch tight end had to play an extended role.

Perkins is back on the Eagles, listed fourth on the depth chart behind the veteran, Richard Rodgers. Last season, Perkins benefitted from a Rodgers injury. This year, he might benefit from the Eagles’ love for two tight end sets. First, he’s got to make the team though.

Rodgers and Perkins will battle it out for third tight end spot on the depth chart this preseason. Being that Rodgers has been often hurt during his short stint with the Eagles, it might not take a whole lot for Perkins to win over that spot. He still has to contribute during the preseason though in order to be considered for the final roster. After seeing some slight flashes last year early on, Perkins shouldn’t have a problem making a solid case for himself.
