1. Avonte Maddox hasn’t missed a step

For the first drive, the Eagles did us all a favor and played the starting cornerbacks for right now. Obviously, Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby didn’t play. So the starting cornerbacks on the outside were Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas. Second-year veteran Avonte Maddox got the start inside where he practiced at the beginning of his rookie season.

Last year, Maddox shocked a lot of doubters. The fourth-round pick was thrown into the fire of an injured secondary, and he stepped up and played really well down the stretch. So far this year, he looks just as good as he did last season. He didn’t play a ton, but at least we know his solid play last season wasn’t much of a fluke.

2. Nate Sudfled put on a show

For the first series, the Eagles tried to get the run game going, but the offensive line didn’t do a great job of creating opportunities for the running backs. Therefore, the Eagles were forced into a three and out right off the bat. However, Nate Sudfeld uplifted the unit and put on a show for the home crowd. Sudfeld formed a steady connection with the backup tight end, Dallas Goedert.

Also, he connected on a deep ball with training camp standout, Marken Michel for a 75-yard touchdown. Unfortunately, his night ended earlier than it was supposed to. After going down with an apparent wrist injury, Sudfeld was carted off sporting an air cast. He finished the evening with ten completions for 177 yards and a touchdown.
