According to PFF, Alex Singleton and Daeshon Hall had quite the night for the Philadelphia Eagles first preseason matchup.

In the preseason, guys that are on the roster bubble have to do everything in their power to stand out. Considering there are only four weeks to prove they belong on a 53-man roster, there’s not a lot of time to be making mistakes in the preseason. Therefore, every game needs to be treated like the championship if the roster hopefuls even want to be considered.

Honestly, the back end of the Eagles 90-man roster did not flash anything great this past Thursday against the Tennessee Titans. Granted, it was just one game — but there’s a good chance the Eagles already know a few guys out there who most likely won’t make the cut. However, it wasn’t all bad when you put some players under a microscope.

It’s hard for a player to stand out in a beating like that, but some of the single-player standouts were obvious. Everybody picked out some of their favorite players from Thursday night, but Pro Football Focus hand-picked five of them. And two of the five highest-graded Eagles from Thursday ended up with some excellent grades in the eyes of PFF.

The top two standouts

Alex Singleton, LB,

Eagles linebacker Alex Singleton graded out as the best player on Thursday, per PFF. He came up with a grade of 91. The former Canadian football star is trying to make it to the NFL once again after spending some time in the CFL. So far, his journey is off to a good start. He wrapped up the night with only one tackle, but his aggressiveness stood out on the tape for sure.

Daeshon Hall, DE

Here’s a guy we’ve been raving about since Thursday night here at ITI. The former third-round pick Daeshon Hall might not have hit his stride with his former team, but perhaps he could find his way with the Eagles. PFF graded Hall out as the second-most productive Eagles player on Thursday with a grade of 90.9. With injuries to multiple defensive ends, Hall ends up in a very favorable situation for himself as he tries to make the team.

A look at the rest

It’s good to see Zach Brown on the list considering his camp reports haven’t been too promising. Apparently, the veteran linebacker has just been going through the motions in practice. It’s understandable a seasoned veteran doesn’t feel the need to go all out to prove themselves, but Brown was cut from the Redskins. Giving a minimal effort to the Eagles wouldn’t exactly be in his best interest if Brown wants to stick around beyond preseason.
