Rasul Douglas, CB
Rasul Douglas is heading into year three in 2019. At this point, he hasn’t convinced Jim Schwartz that he’s a starting-caliber cornerback. Instead, Douglas has to wait for somebody to go down with an injury in order to obtain reps on the starting defense during the regular season.
Right now, the Eagles have multiple cornerbacks out with injuries. Therefore, Douglas has remained as a starting cornerback on the outside, which is where he finished off the 2018 season. While Schwartz may not like Douglas for whatever reason, his production has been undeniable.
I’d go as far as saying that Douglas might be the best tackler in the Eagles secondary along with Malcolm Jenkins. And when it comes to picking the ball off, Douglas is easily the most reliable in that department. Douglas needs a strong preseason to keep his starting spot. So far, he’s on the right track to doing so with a nice series in week one.
