Sidney Jones, CB

Here’s another cornerback from the 2017 NFL Draft class that hasn’t proved his entire worth yet. Due to multiple injuries throughout the last two years, Jones has struggled to get and stay on the football field. So far though, he’s been relatively healthy this offseason, which is a good sign.

Jones’ status within the Eagles defense is unclear. It seems as though the team likes him in the nickel, but they know he thrived on the outside in college. Versatility is excellent in Jim Schwartz’s system, but it’s tough for these corners to succeed with their real identity when they keep getting moved around in the secondary.

Nobody knows what Jones is going to offer for the Eagles in 2019, but so far the coaching staff believes he looks promising. He’s made some really nice plays in training camp and did a decent job during the first preseason game on minimal snaps. He’s got a long way to go in order to live up to his value, but Pederson seems to like where he’s at.
