Former Eagles QB Nick Foles left something special to him in Philly
When he left the Philadelphia Eagles for the Jacksonville Jaguars this past offseason, he left something very special to him in Philly, and he has no intention of going to get it.
We’re all busy people these days. We rush out of the house, and we leave our cell phones or keys. Hopefully, we don’t forget our children (that’s a joke). For NFL athletes, including both former and current Philadelphia Eagles, it’s no different. They don’t just leave the house. They have to move to entirely different cities sometimes. Just ask former Eagles quarterback Nick Foles.
He’s now the starting quarterback for the Jacksonville Jaguars, and when he left the ‘City of Brotherly Love’, he decided to leave something back in Philly on purpose, his jersey number. If you haven’t noticed, Foles left the ‘number 9’ jersey in Philly and decided to don the ‘number 7′ in Duval County.
You may have noticed that. Maybe you didn’t, but if you did pick up on that, Foles’ reasons for why may have slipped past you. Credit Derrick Gunn for this one. He’s an NFL reporter and anchor for NBC Sports Philly and based on a conversation he had with Mr. Foles, it appears the most famous ‘number 9’ in Eagles history’s reasons were for the number change was very specific. Here’s a quote from Gunn’s report.
‘Number 9 stays in Philadelphia. That number means a lot to me. It pertains to that city.’
Now, that’s special. What’s left to be said after that? Something about this guy makes us smile every single time we see him or hear him talk. He may be playing his football in Jacksonville now, but trust and believe he’ll always be an Eagle.
he still makes this fan base smile every single time they think of him, and when his number is retired officially, maybe that will make both him and Eagles smile too.
