Former Philadelphia Eagles defensive end Chris Long was happy to see Nick Foles and Carson Wentz hug it out before their preseason matchup.

For many teams around the NFL, this week is just another week in the preseason. For the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans, it means a little bit more. On Thursday, the Eagles traveled to Jacksonville to face the Jaguars for the second week of the preseason.

While this matchup typically wouldn’t mean much, this time around is different. Over the offseason, Eagles legend and Super Bowl LII Nick Foles inked a deal with the Jaguars. Now instead of backing up Carson Wentz, Foles is running his own team in the AFC.

This isn’t the first time Foles joined a new team outside of Philadelphia — but it will be the first time he’s on the opposite sideline as a member of another team. Many anticipated the matchup as a Nick Foles versus Carson Wentz preseason showdown. Unfortunately, they aren’t expected to be playing.

However, their absence on the field doesn’t really take away from the excitement. While it’s difficult for some to see Foles in a Jaguars uniform, many were happy to see the former Eagles quarterback link up with his teammates once again. And like many fans, former Eagles defensive end Chris Long was excited to see Wentz and Foles hug it out during pregame warmups.

Showing support for two young QBs

“Two guys I’ll tell my boys about playing with! High character dudes,” Long tweeted out as multiple videos of the former teammates’ moment hit social media. Obviously, Long knows both quarterbacks well as he’s spent time with Foles in St. Louis and Philly, and played with Wentz in Philly over the last two seasons as well. Quite the stamp of approval for two young quarterbacks from a retired seasoned veteran.
