Wide receivers (5)

The verdict: Alshon Jeffery, DeSean Jackson, Nelson Agholor, JJ Arcega-Whiteside, Mack Hollins

The argument: Marken Michel has become 2019’s version of Paul Turner. Most, including us, would love to find a way to get him on this roster, but we can’t. The only real option is if he leapfrogs Mack Hollins, whose shown some value on special teams.

Add that to the fact that the coaches really don’t want to give up on Hollins yet, and you’ve got a couple of strong arguments about him sneaking onto the roster in that fifth wide receiver spot.

Tight ends (3)

The verdict: Zach Ertz, Dallas Goedert, Joshua Perkins

The argument: Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert are shoo-ins. Perkins will slide in over the injured Richard Rodgers, who’s beginning to show some of the effects of aging.

The specialists  (3)

The verdict: Jake Elliott (kicker), Cameron Johnston (punter), Rick Lovato (Longsnapper)

The argument: These have been the guys on all three of our roster projections, and we see no reason to change that theory now. You aren’t going to find a roster projection where you won’t see these three guys where we’ve placed them.
