Shareef Miller, DE

Round 4, Pick 138

The Eagles found out this offseason that they were most likely going to lose longtime veteran pass rusher, Chris Long to retirement. Therefore, they needed to ensure they had a couple of options to replace the part-time pass rusher in 2019 potentially. So Penn State defensive end Shareef Miller became one of the prospect to possibly do so.

In training camp, it seemed like Josh Sweat, and Joe Ostman were the two truly battling it out for rotational reps while the rookie, Miller had a quiet training camp. Many were beginning to believe that the former Nittany Lions’ defensive lineman was going to be nothing more than a project during his first season. But with actual game reps under his belt now, he’s putting up a fight.

He might not have done much in practice, but through two preseason games, Miller has collected two sacks on defense. We won’t get too ahead of ourselves here as he is going against backups, but after the quiet offseason, his preseason showcase has been promising so far. For a fourth-round pick, there isn’t too much to complain about right now.
