Round 2, Pick 57

So defensive end Shareef Miller had a very quiet training camp but is making noise during the preseason games. Well, former Stanford wide receiver JJ Arcega-Whiteside is doing the opposite. While the rookie wideout made a ton of noise during the practice sessions over the months, he hasn’t really flashed too much through two preseason games thus far.

Granted, Arcega-Whiteside is in a strange position. During practice, he seems to garner some reps with the starters, where he does flash his abilities. In the preseason though, he’s playing with mostly backups, which could make him less useful. I made it a point before that young wideouts trying to make the team will likely be affected negatively by the struggling passers under center.

Well, Arcega-Whiteside kind of falls under that category as well. Now, he’s not fighting for a roster spot, as a second-rounder is always a lock to make it. But we’re just calling it how we see it right now. And what we’ve seen out of the rookie during eight quarters of the preseason so far doesn’t really have us all that excited right now.
