Week 16:

Giants at Redskins, Sunday, December 22nd at 1 PM EST, FedExField

The NFL is a league that just gets it. They’re constantly trying to drum up ways to improve on what’s the most entertaining television product in sports. Every year, there’s a rule change, and they’re always evolving. Once upon a time, there was a developing issue.

Teams were constantly wrapping up their division early, and sometimes, you could get teams who weren’t giving their best efforts late because there was nothing to play for.

League offices would love to see everybody with a 7-7 record entering the final two weeks as they’ve become obsessed with parity. While that may never happen, their decision years ago to place divisional games at the end of a team’s schedule has helped us see some important games late.

Again, it doesn’t happen often, and it won’t happen in Week 16 with the Giants and Redskins, but this could be a game worthy of watching (even if both teams are mathematically eliminated by this time). With nothing to play for, the Giants finally place Daniel Jones in the lineup, and New York gets a narrow victory over the Redskins.

Prediction: Giants 27, Redskins 23

Projected team records: Eagles (11-4), Cowboys (9-6), Redskins (5-10), Giants (6-9)

Projected divisional records: Eagles (4-1), Cowboys (4-1), Redskins (1-4), Giants (1-4)
