Philadelphia Eagles right tackle Jordan Mailata missed practice on Monday. Could a trade be coming soon?

You’ve got to love the constant trade rumors regarding the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason. Ever since Howie Roseman got re-hired in the front office once again, there’s never been a time where he hasn’t been linked to whatever big names become available on the market.

For months now, the biggest name on the trade block is easily Houston Texans defensive end, Jadeveon Clowney. As Clowney is in search of a brand new long-term deal, he’s finished with playing for a team that won’t commit or give him the salary and bonuses he deserves long-term.

As he has a franchise tender sitting on the table waiting to be signed, both parties cannot come to an agreement and get the pass rusher on the field weeks before the season kicks off. So now Houston doesn’t have many things they could do, but the most logical move at this point would be to trade the former first-round pass rusher.

Many believe the trade could be coming within the next few days. And some believe that the Philadelphia Eagles are a realistic suitor. As Howie Roseman has made it clear in the past that defensive line depth is critical, it wouldn’t be shocking to find out he’s targeting a Pro Bowl pass rusher.

And knowing that the Houston Texans desperately need offensive linemen, it makes sense that Philly would be a team to look to for a potential trade considering their depth. Now, a recent absence from a backup offensive lineman at Eagles practice is beginning to stir the rumors up once again.

Next. Could Texans trade Clowney to an Eagles rival?. dark

On Monday, Eagles right tackle Jordan Mailata was absent for an undisclosed reason. According to Philadelphia Inquirer’s Jeff McLane, the Eagles have not issued a reason why as they are not obligated to release those details at this point in the offseason.

It’s unclear if there is genuinely anything there or not — but the lack of details in the random absence is quite interesting. With Mailata playing in a majority of the Eagles preseason snaps over the last few weeks, he has created a buzz around his game once again. And as the Texans continue to struggle with keeping productive offensive linemen on the field, a move could be coming soon.
