3. James Burgess, linebacker

Two things that stand out about the Jets’ linebacker situation is this.  Avery Williamson is out for the season, and Brandon Copeland is suspended for the first four games of the NFL regular season

Unfortunately for James Burgess, he’s not being mentioned anywhere as being part of the Jets’ plans moving forward. He should get some laying time on Thursday. We’ll see how that all affects him.

4. Eric Tomlinson, tight end

Chris Herndon is suspended for the first four games of 2019’s regular season. Eric Tomlinson didn’t get a ton of playing time in the Jets’ third preseason game, but he and Trevon Wesco can hold down the tight end spot for New York until Herndon returns (maybe).

We’ll see if Tomlinson gets more playing time in the fourth game. It’s hard to get a read on what his position coaches are thinking from the outside looking in.

5. Jonotthan Harrison, center

Jonotthan Harrison went undrafted in 2014, found his way onto the Indianapolis Colts roster, wound up with the Jets, and has started in 32 of the 68 games he’s appeared in during his NFL career. Ryan Kalil was convinced to unretire, but he hasn’t looked good.

Harrison shouldn’t be in any danger of being released, but he may be playing for the starting role on Thursday night if he plays.
