We should all be able to say this by now. The Philadelphia Eagles absolutely cannot leave Daeshon Hall off of their final 53-man roster.

Well, the long and the short of it is there are only 53 spots on the Philadelphia Eagles‘ active roster. They came into the preseason with one of the deepest rosters in the entire NFL. Sure, the onfield play didn’t always prove that in the preseason (gosh those were some tough games to watch), but this team had a lot of good players who weren’t going to make the squad. We should all hope that Daeshon Hall isn’t among the players Philly decides to part ways with.

Hall was drafted in the third round of the NFL Draft by the Carolina Panthers. He was the 77th player taken, but after being placed on the team’s injured reserve on October 6th of 2017, he was waived on September 1st of that same season.

Stops on the San Francisco 49ers practice squad and, then, in Houston (twice) led him to the Eagles signing him on December 11th of 2018 off of the Texans‘ practice squad.

Hall has a grand total of three tackles and a half a sack on his professional football resume, but after a preseason where he racked up four sacks and three forced fumbles over the course of four games, it appears he may have actually been worth the third-round selection the Panthers used on him a little over two years ago.

Here’s a quote from Hall, courtesy of Eagles Insider Dave Spadaro and the team’s official website.

"I’m not worried about nothing. I feel like it’s already written. I feel like whatever God has in store for me, I’ll be ready for it. At the end of the day, I just try to control my controllables, and that’s me practicing hard and me going hard on the field when the lights come on. That’s what I try to worry about… I feel like I did a lot, but there’s always plays that you wish you could have back, your technique and stuff like that. I just tried to give my best effort."

The Eagles and the rest of the NFL have until 4 PM EST on Saturday to slim their roster down to the league-mandated 53 players. Sure, every team must waive talented guys who can play in the NFL, and every team will have tough decisions to make, but this shouldn’t be one of them.

Here’s something we can say with certainty. Hall clearly outplayed both Josh Sweat and Shareef Miller, and just about every expert says they should both be on this team. Every roster projection, including ours, says Sweat and Miller should be added to Philly’s regular-season roster.

dark. Next. This stat proves Eagles ought to blitz more in 2019

With that being said, leaving Hall off of the final 53-man roster won’t mean he wasn’t good enough. Leaving Hall off won’t mean he was a victim of the ‘numbers game’. Leaving Hall off would mean the Philadelphia Eagles made a mistake. Let’s hope that isn’t the case come 4 PM EST on August 31st.
