3 NFL free agents Philadelphia Eagles should consider contacting
3. Austin Seferian-Jenkins, tight end
We hoped to put Ricky Seals-Jones‘ name here, but he got scooped up by the Cleveland Browns (man, they;ve got some players). Even still, no one expected Philly’s first 53-man roster of the 2019 season to include just two tight ends. Sure, Zach Ertz and Dallas Goedert were never in any danger of not making this team, but they’ll need someone to spare them occasionally.
Austin Seferian-Jenkins takes care of all of that in a flash. Despite having 116 receptions, 1,160 yards, and 11 touchdowns on his resume, he’s currently a free agent. Now, much of that probably has to do with the Jacksonville Jaguars declining his option after placing him on injured reserve on October 9th of last season and because of his lack of production prior to that, but his quarterback was Blake Bortles. There are a lot of skill players who would look bad playing with him.
The New England Patriots signed him to a one-year deal on April 10th but released him on June 4th due to personal issues. If those are behind him, he could help this Eagles team out.
