Philadelphia Eagles: 1 Sentence on every member of their practice squad
The Philadelphia Eagles introduced nine practice squad members on September 1st. Here’s one sentence on each one of them.
A little over 24 hours after the Philadelphia Eagles introduced 53 men as the members of their 2019 roster, they introduced nine practice squad members. Though there aren’t many surprises, they can claim a couple.
Though these guys won’t dress on Sundays, they’ll earn a check. Their NFL dreams aren’t quite over. There’s also one more thing, and this is the most important. They’ll need to stay ready. If there are any injuries or any unforeseen roster happenings, they can be called up to the active roster quicky.
Just ask Josh Adams. He may be with the Jets now, but he’s a witness to how quickly things can change. Here’s an official announcement from the team.
One thing that jumps out at you is there are only nine guys here. One more can be added, or Philly can go another route. They can sign someone from the outside and demote one of the young guys from the active roster.
We’ll have to wait and see which route they take. In the meantime, here’s one sentence on each of the guys who have been added.
Kyle Lauletta, quarterback
Kyle Lauletta didn’t take one offensive snap for the Eagles during the preseason, yet the team would rather develop him than the guy they drafted, Clayton Thorson.
Boston Scott, running back
The guy who was supposed to be ‘the next Darren Sproles‘ caught a bit of a bad break when the original Darren Sproles decided he had one more run in him, but Boston Scott is here and Wendell Smallwood and Josh Adams aren’t.
Alex Ellis, tight end
The Eagles like Alex Ellis and so do many of the fans, so we’ll see how he develops in the coming months.
Josh Perkins, tight end
Some of us are still scratching our heads about how Philly only kept two tight ends when so many people thought Josh Perkins would be the third.
Sua Opeta, offensive guard
Does anyone else see that if Brandon Brooks isn’t ready soon, then, the only other person who’s played guard for the Eagles in an actual game is Isaac Seumalo?
Marcus Green, wide receiver
The Atlanta Falcons selected Marcus Green in the sixth round of the 2019 NFL Draft, and after an interesting turn of events, he lands in the ‘City of Brotherly Love’.
Greg Ward, wide receiver
We all know how good Greg Ward is and what he’s capable of, and that the Eagles like him, but the numbers just never seem to work in his favor.
Bruce Hector, defensive tackle
Bruce Hector played eight in games for Philly in 2018, and if something goes wrong, we know he can have significant value.
Alex Singleton, linebacker
Alex Singleton was, no doubt, one of those late subtractions as some thought he had a realistic shot to make the roster.
Conclusion: There’s a lot of talent here. We’ll have to see if the Eagles add anyone else in the next few hours or if any changes are made in the next day or so.
