Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills sent out a subliminal tweet, which New Orleans Saints’ Marshon Lattimore felt the need to respond to.

There’s nothing quite like an NFL rivalry that takes place off of the field before a season even begins. As we know, the Philadelphia Eagles only have a handful of rivals in the NFL. Three of their NFC East opponents such as the Washington Redskins, Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Giants automatically qualify since they are a part of the division.

Some others who could be mentioned in this category of Eagles rivals are potentially the New England Patriots and the Minnesota Vikings. However, as of late, the Eagles have built up a sudden beef with the New Orleans Saints over the past year, which doesn’t seem to be going away any time soon.

It all started during last year’s offseason when Saints’ star running back Alvin Kamara swore his team would beat the Eagles in the 2017 NFC Championship. Despite losing to the Minnesota Vikings in the previous week, the Saints believe that their loss was a fluke, and they would’ve handled the Eagles with ease in the Championship game.

For that, New Orleans was out for revenge. When they faced the Eagles during the 2018 season at home, the Saints took advantage of an injured Eagles secondary by dropping 48 points, clearly running up the score and kicking the Eagles while they were down.

It didn’t stop in the regular season, though. Two months later, the Eagles had to travel to New Orleans for a divisional-round playoff matchup where Philly ended up doing much better. Unfortunately, they couldn’t seal the deal then either.

That led the Saints to head back to their locker room to blast the Eagles’ 2017 rally anthem, ‘Dreams and Nightmares’ by Philly’s own, Meek Mill. Clearly, that didn’t go over well in Philly. We figured that by now the recent rivalry would be over with, but that doesn’t seem to be the case.

Jalen Mills sends a message

On Sunday night, Eagles cornerback Jalen Mills published a tweet regarding group celebrations by defensive secondaries. He wanted to remind everybody that when defenses are posing to get a group picture after a big play on the field, they are essentially copying what the Eagles have started back during the 2017 Super Bowl run.

Well, many New Orleans Saints fans took notice and decided to jump into Mills’ mentions on Twitter claiming that’s false. Apparently, the Saints believe they were the originators of the group poses after a big play, not the Eagles. And the fans weren’t the only ones to take notice.

Saints’ star cornerback Marshon Lattimore caught wind of the sub-tweet a few hours later and decided to throw one back at Mills. “Who started what,” Lattimore tweeted while posting a picture of the Saints doing the same type of pose as the Eagles did in 2017.

This isn’t the first time Saints, and Eagles players traded shots on Twitter, and it most likely won’t be the last. As both teams are looking to headline the NFC in the playoffs this year, they were surely have an eye on each other throughout the year.
