Philadelphia Eagles rival watch: 4 NFL RBs who are better than Ezekiel Elliott
4. Christian McCaffrey, Carolina Panthers
If Christian McCaffrey played for the Dallas Cowboys, he’d be the toast of the NFL. Had he played his college ball in the SEC rather than playing at Stanford, he’d have won the Heisman Trophy.
Now, for academic reasons, he made the right choice, but if any of you watched west coast college football, you already know how special he is.
Mccaffrey can do everything. He can return punts. He can run. He’s excellent as a receiver, and to be honest, if he had the chance to play quarterback or be the kicker, he’d probably be good at that.
If the Carolina Panthers can ever maximize his talent, he’ll be even more special than he already is. If he continues on the ascent that he’s on, he has a chance to be one of the best all-purpose backs in history.
There’s also one more thing that’s very important. If you’re an owner of any of the teams these guys play for, you don’t have to worry about getting a call at 4 AM in the morning stating that your All-Pro running back is in trouble.
Availability is a skill, isn’t it? Isn’t that what you’re always discrediting Carson Wentz for?
Elliott is good. We all know that. He’s killed the Eagles before, and Philly’s probably got a better chance of beating the Cowboys if he isn’t around. Still, if you poll any Eagles fan, they’ll take Miles Sanders, Darren Sproles, Corey Clement, and Jordan Howard. Availability is a skill, so they say, and Dallas’ star running back is always one mental lapse away from a possible suspension.
That may be the most important factor in all of this. The debate table is open. Expect Cowboys fans to blindly argue for their guy. Isn’t that what they always do?
