Boston Scott, RB

Can we all just take a moment to reflect on the days when the Eagles viewed Boston Scott potentially as Darren Sproles 2.0? First of all, let’s clear this up: There aren’t going to be many players like Darren Sproles that come to the NFL if any. That guy is truly one of a kind.

Just because a running back is undersized, quick, can catch and run, and also return punts and kickoffs, doesn’t mean they should be compared to a player of Sproles’ caliber. That’s no disrespect to Scott, who didn’t call himself Darren Sproles 2.0.

It’s just a bummer that he got thrown under those expectations that he and many other backs clearly cannot live up to. At least we know that having a running back with similar traits to Sproles will most likely not add up to what the veteran has offered to the Eagles over the years. We were fooled once with Donnel Pumphrey — now we were fooled twice with Boston Scott.
