3. Carson Wentz, QB

As we talk about rust — here’s a guy who hasn’t played football since December of 2018. Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz has been through a lot the past two years. He suffered a torn ACL in 2017, and it is speculated that his knee injury was the cause for his eventual back injury last year.

Wentz got shut down for the year in December of 2018, but his back issues surfaced in October. He played through it and did a nice job, but a nice job from Wentz simply isn’t good enough nowadays. Wentz is heading into year four, and it’s about time he re-introduces himself as the ‘MVP Caliber’ quarterback that we dub him as.

We’ve seen Wentz play bad at times — and we’ve also seen him play amazing. Hopefully, there’s more amazing than bad this season. And we’re really hoping that the amazing factor begins this Sunday. Technically, Wentz is re-introducing himself to the league against Washington.

His start in week one will be everything. He’s going against a lesser opponent. Therefore, Wentz should be able to put on a show with all of his weapons. If he doesn’t put on an MVP caliber performance, it wouldn’t be a huge deal. However, it won’t be easy for this guy to avoid criticism this season. He needs to show out early.
