The Philadelphia Eagles will open NFL Week 1 against the Washington Redskins.

The wait is finally over, Philadelphia Eagles fans! After a long summer’s worth of practicing against each other, the Eagles’ starters will take the field together for the first time in a very long time. This week, the Eagles’ opponent happens to be a familiar one in the Washington Redskins.

This week’s game won’t be the Eagles toughest matchup, but it could be very entertaining if you’re a fan of the Birds. With the Eagles heavily favored in this one, it comes as no surprise that they could end up realistically putting a beatdown on Washington.

Aside from the fact that this is a divisional matchup, there are a few other factors that make this game quite interesting. For starters, there are a few revenge factors in this one. For the Eagles, they possess two former Redskins who could be out to stick it to their old team. There’s linebacker Zach Brown on the defensive side of the ball and wideout DeSean Jackson on the offense.

On the Redskins, former Eagles running back Wendell Smallwood is expected to play this week. While Smallwood most likely won’t have much of a role in the offense, he will be on special teams as the Redskins are allowing him to compete against his old team.

This game has tons of factors involved, and a lot can happen. As we’re just hours away from kick-off, let’s dive into some bold (and not-so-bold) predictions for the Eagles this week.
