Patrick Mahomes, Kansas City Chiefs

124. . Week 1 (won) Chiefs 40, Jags 26. . Patrick Mahomes. . team

After winning the MVP trophy in 2018, Patrick Mahomes opened the 2019 season with what could have been one of the most dominant performances by a quarterback in league history.

The Kansas City Chiefs took their foot off the gas slightly once it was learned that the Jacksonville Jaguars were outclassed, their starting quarterback was lost for the game, and there was no way the Jags were going to be competitive for four quarters.

Gosh, whatever happened to ‘Sacksonville’? Regardless of that, we’ve learned that anyone that wants to take the MVP trophy from Mahomes is going to have a fight on their hands. He’s firmly entrenched himself in the debate already, and believe it or not, it doesn’t appear that this Chiefs offense is going to take a step backward.

Mahomes will be in the MVP conversation. The Chiefs will be in the Super Bowl conversation.
