Philadelphia Eagles roundup: Week 1 NFC East Power Rankings
3. New York Giants
You can’t beat anybody in the NFL if you convert two third downs on 11 attempts and you never get to the quarterback while your team is on defense. On Sunday, Dallas forced three fumbles and jumped on two of them en route to a 35-17 victory at home.
Okay, here’s the thing. No one thought the Giants would walk into AT&T Stadium and walk out with a Week 1 victory. No one thought Pat Shurmur was going to guide this team to the NFC Playoffs, and after one week of football, we all can see why we believed that.
The Giants are awful. Guys ran free in their secondary. They didn’t seem ready to play, but here’s a couple of things that they can hang their hat on. Saquon Barkley is a saving grace, and Eli Manning played well. Unfortunately, Dak Prescott just played better.
On this occasion, Manning wasn’t a part of the reason for New York’s failure. Next up for ‘Big Blue’ is a home date versus the Buffalo Bills. We’ll have to wait and see how things work out in that one.
