Brotherly love knows no boundaries. Just ask Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz about his love for Nick Foles.
Some bonds can’t be broken and shouldn’t be. We know of the love current and former members of the Philadelphia Eagles have for one another. Nick Foles may have moved on to Jacksonville, but that didn’t stop Carson Wentz from reaching out to the Jaguars signal-caller once the seriousness of his injury was learned.
News broke late on Sunday that Nick Foles had broken his clavicle, and both Philadelphia and Jacksonville were simultaneously stunned and saddened.
While Jags fans mourned the loss of their free-agent savior, fans back in Philly were saddened to see their Super Bowl hero’s big opportunity cut short so quickly. One man, in particular, took it upon himself to reach out to Foles as a friend and offer warmth in a tough time. That man was current Eagles quarterback Carson Wentz.
During a Wednesday afternoon press conference, Wentz expressed his love for his former teammate and passed on the belief that this is simply all part of a grander plan for Foles:
Wentz evoking God’s grand plan is something that should feel familiar to the Eagles quarterback. It was the very same mantra that he preached in nearly every interview he gave during his lengthy recovery from a torn ACL and MCL and from his back issues.
The two friends are clearly still very close, and this kind of unprovoked outreach exemplifies the quality of person Wentz is. These two former brothers in football and faith are still very much connected both on and off the field. No one would be able to deny that, and as a fan of the Eagles, Wentz, and Foles, it’s definitely a nice thing to see.
