Malik Jackson has a message for the Philadelphia Eagles and their fans.

If you’ve been watching the traveling soap opera that is the New England Patriots diva wide receiver Antonio Brown, you’re probably sick of social media, if you weren’t already. Believe it or not, you can find some good stuff on there sometimes. Look no further than Philadelphia Eagles defensive tackle Malik Jackson.

Wednesday, at about the time that many people on the West Coast were still asleep and much of the East Coast was just really getting their day started, Jackson took to social media to connect with a fan base that’s hurting a little after the news that his 2019 regular season is over.

Take a look at what he had to say.

It’s hard to find words after, but here’s an attempt.

You don’t have to explain to any Eagles fan what it means to have Fletcher Cox or what it meant to know that Malik Jackson and Timmy Jernigan were in the fold at defensive tackle. Everyone knows how great Cox is. We’re basically watching a Hall-of-Fame career in the making.

The idea of adding two above-average defensive tackles who both felt that they had something to prove was both an intriguing and exciting prospect for the Eagles and their fans. Seeing Jackson and Cox on the field together was exciting. Knowing Jernigan would serve as a companion piece was very exciting. Now, a piece of that trio is missing, and it hurts. Still, if there’s anything we know about the game we all love, it’s this.

That’s a part of the process in the NFL. Again, the Eagles lose a man who we expected to be a big part of the team’s success. Again, we all must yell ‘next man up’. Again, Howie Roseman needed to juggle the deck and add another piece.

He did so, and now, Akeem Spence will fill in. Might another move be made as well?  We’ll have to wait and see. For now, here’s what every Eagles fan must do: keep hope alive, rally behind your Eagles, and take pride in the fact that your top two defensive tackles are the same two defensive tackles that helped this franchise win a Super Bowl in the 2017-18 season. It isn’t over yet. Trust and believe we’ll all be watching this one closely.
