Where do the Philadelphia Eagles rank among the top teams in the NFL after the first week of the season?

Well, faster than you can blink (and that can almost be taken literally), one week of the NFL season is in the books. Early on in their first game, the Philadelphia Eagles played bad enough to send the most loyal fan base to therapy. Then, seemingly out of nowhere the offense began scoring at will and doing just about everything they wanted to as a defense that struggled for most of the first half turned into the ‘Steel Curtain’ for four straight drives.

Then, almost just as quickly as that happened, the latter part of that equation changed, and the defense morphed back into their inconsistent selves as the Washington Redskins drove down for a final score that lessened the gap on the scoreboard.

Here we are now with all of these questions. Can this defense stop anybody? Did we overdo it with all of the excitement about the preseasons that Sidney Jones and Rasul Douglas turned in? Is either one of them really that good? Will Derek Barnett ever break out? Was that slow start offensively a product of a rusty quarterback and a starting unit that didn’t play much in the preseason, or is this team just more inconsistent than we thought?

After watching hours of game tape, the ITI staff put their heads together on all of that and the other 32 teams in the NFL and used the good old fashioned eyeball test. Here’s our first power ranking of the season.
