Heading into Week 2, NFL Power Rankings are everywhere. Here’s what everyone’s saying about the Philadelphia Eagles.

Week 1 of the 2019 NFL regular season gave us exactly what we thought it would, a ton of surprises, some upsets, a few blowouts, and, lastly, a whole lot of questions. As far as the Philadelphia Eagles are concerned, many of the questions the experts are coming up with are the same questions the fans and media are asking.

Did you see DeSean Jackson? What’s up with that secondary? Why didn’t Jordan Howard get more carries? Still, even with the questions and the slow start, most of the experts agree. The Eagles deserve to be named as one of the ten-best teams leaguewide. Where they fall is open for debate.

Let’s look around and see what the experts are saying in their Week 2 Power Rankings.

Here’s the opinion of USA TODAY’s Nate Davis. He drops the Eagles down to tenth place following his decision to place them at four prior to the season beginning:

"Took a half to knock rust off, but then quarterback Carson Wentz showed form everyone expects. (A) foot injury to (defensive tackle) Malik Jackson (is) a tough setback."

ESPN places the Eagles at five, just one spot ahead of the Dallas Cowboys. Here’s some of Tim Mcmanus’ explanation on that one.

"(Miles Sanders’ stat line (11 carries, 25 yards) doesn’t tell the whole story. (He) saw a touchdown run called back because of a holding penalty and broke off a 19-yarder that showed off the burst and wiggle that coaches and teammates have been talking up all summer. He’s sharing a backfield with Jordan Howard, Darren Sproles and Corey Clement, and snap distribution will change from week to week, but look for Sanders to be featured more and more as the season goes along"

From McManus to NFL.com’s Dan Hanzus. Here’s his take on the Eagles, who he ranks at five.

"I imagine there was a wave of sweet nostalgia washing over Philly fans as they watched DeSean Jackson blow the top off an opposing defense in an Eagles uniform again… Speaking of sweet Iggles nostalgia, Wentz looked a lot like the guy who tore the NFL apart in 2017 once Philly’s offense shook off the rust in the second half. Wentz is a legit MVP candidate and the Eagles are primed for a fierce battle with the Cowboys for the NFC East crown."

Lastly, we head to Sports Illustrated. The MMQB staff put their NFL Power Ranking together. Philly sits on its list in fifth place. They offer a quick explanation and, yet in still, a rather poignant one, stating ‘For one game, at least, it’s like DeSean Jackson never left. (He had) eight catches for 154 yards and two long TDs. Carson Wentz has a deep threat.’

If you’re keeping score, that’s three lists where Philly sits in the top five and one list where they almost fell off of the list entirely. Let’s see if there are any changes there and on the field when the Eagles head to Atlanta to do battle with the Falcons.

That figures to be a nice test for both teams early in the 2019 campaign.
