. team. 54. Al Wistert played his entire career as a member of the Eagles after a rookie season in 1943, where he played as a member of the Philadelphia-Pittsburgh Steagles.. RT. . Al Wistert (1943-1951)

Here’s a sincere apology. Tra Thomas and Jon Runyan aren’t the starters They are a couple of very good reserves though. Al Wistert gets the nod here. His number 70 was retired by the team and for good reason.

Wistert was a two-way star for the 1948 and 1949 championship teams, and he was also a member of the 1940s All-Decade team. His omission from the Pro Football Hall of Fame is inexcusable, but he is a member of the College Football Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Eagles Hall of Fame.

Might the four-time All-Pro’s time finally come with this year’s expanded enshrinement class? After a Pro Bowl nod in 1950, six First-team All-Pro nods (1944–1949), and two Second-team All-Pro nods (1950, 1951), most die-hard football fans can’t come up with a reason why he shouldn’t be.
