After suffering through some bad Eagles seasons, Bill Bergey was finally rewarded by starting for the 1980 squad that won the NFC and got to Super Bowl XV.
He’s a two-time All-Pro and a four-time Pro Bowl selection. He’s also one of the meanest and the best linebackers of his era. He gets the starting slot. He may have had a historically underrated career, but he’s a member of the Eagles Hall of Fame and the Philadelphia Sports Hall of Fame for several reasons.
Here are a few: 91 starts in 91-career appearances, three Eagles MVP nominations from his teammates, a season where he recorded 233 tackles, and 18 career interceptions.
It would be an error not to include him on this list.
