DeSean Jackson’s Philadelphia Eagles homecoming was fantastic, but it came with a price to pay.

Last week, the Philadelphia Eagles hosted the Washington Redskins at home for the first game of the 2019 NFL Season. Although the matchup started off slow, it surely didn’t disappoint in the end as the Eagles started the year off with a bang.

The major story from last week’s game was none other than DeSean Jackson’s homecoming with the Birds. After being cast off by Chip Kelly back in 2014, Jackson spent years getting revenge on the Eagles. Nowadays though, he’s back in midnight green getting revenge on his other former teams, such as the Washington Redskins.

Last week’s event was just the perfect scenario for Jackson, who tends always to stand out his against his former teammates. It took a little bit to get going, but Jackson finished the day with eight catches for 154 yards and a touchdown.

He came away from week one with a win, which he contributed to big-time but now he also picks up a fine for defending himself against Redskins’ defensive back, Quinton Dunbar. Although Dunbar initiated some extracurricular activities on the field with an unnecessary cheap shot on Jackson, the NFL seemed only to care that the veteran wideout retaliated.

Jackson picks up a fine

By no means was Jackson at fault as he didn’t start the small scrap that wouldn’t escalate to anything significant. However, the referees only caught the back end of the altercation, where Jackson looked like the bad guy. For that, the Eagles picked up an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty, resulting in the standard 15 yards loss, which surely didn’t help the Eagles.

Jackson and Dunbar mostly stayed out of trouble for the rest of the game, but that still didn’t change the NFL’s mind about Jackson’s actions early on. Therefore, he picked up a $10,527 fine. Dunbar, on the other hand, might’ve got off scot-free. It doesn’t make much sense, but then again, neither do a lot of the NFL’s decisions.
