Philadelphia Eagles wide receiver Nelson Agholor took accountability for his mistakes on Twitter following the loss against the Falcons.

Well, you can’t win them all. Even when the Philadelphia Eagles were Super Bowl champions in 2017, they took losses. As a matter of fact, they began that year off with a record of 1-1 as well, losing to the Kansas City Chiefs on the road in a tight loss.

This year, the Eagles find themselves in a similar situation as they fall to the Atlanta Falcons on the road, 24-20. While the Eagles didn’t necessarily play a good game, their fourth-quarter comeback was surely looking like something special.

Unfortunately, they couldn’t finish with the victory. However, there was a play left out on the field that was guaranteed to give the Eagles the go-ahead lead late in the fourth quarter. Eagles’ quarterback Carson Wentz delivered one of his best passes of the night (there were few good ones) to his No. 1 wideout at the moment, Nelson Agholor.

All No. 11 had to do was hit him in stride, and the rest of the field was open for Agholor to take it in for six. But the worst-case scenario happened. Agholor turned into his 2016 self for the moment and had one of, if not, the worst drop of his career.

Granted, he made up for it with a big catch on a long fourth-down conversion. But at that point, it didn’t matter. He left the biggest play out on the field, and the Eagles failed to add points to the scoreboard when needed. The bad news is the Eagles get nothing but a loss on their record for this one. The good news is that Agholor stepped up and held himself accountable for his flaws.

A message from the wideout

“I will be better,” Agholor wrote in a statement on Twiter nearly an hour after the loss. Just last week, Agholor was disappointed that he didn’t see many targets as Carson Wentz utilized a heavy dose of DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery against Washington.

This week, Wentz had no choice but to target Agholor since the other two wideouts were dealing with nagging injuries on the sideline. The veteran slot receiver reeled in eight catches for 107 yards and a touchdown, but he undoubtedly left a lot of plays out on the field.

And we’re not just talking about the dropped would-be touchdown pass towards the end. With multiple drops, it seems as though Agholor might’ve lost some confidence early on this year. The hope is that he takes the mistakes in stride and becomes a better wideout when he’s allowed the opportunity to produce. He’s talking about it — but will he be about it? Only time will tell.
