For a brief second, the thought of adding Taco Charlton to the Eagles may have crossed a few minds, but it will never work.

Wow. Injuries sure do change things in a hurry, don’t they? Two weeks ago, it was almost as if excitement was the overwhelming emotion of the Philadelphia Eagles fan. Fast forward, and it seemingly took everything the Eagles had to take care of business against the Washington Redskins. They couldn’t get anything done early, and they couldn’t keep them out of the end zone at the end of the fourth quarter.

The Redskins got a garbage score late, and that got dismissed. Then, Week 2 came. The Eagles fell in their second game to the Atlanta Falcons. It was a good game that could have gone either way, and it wouldn’t have been as bad had it not been for the injuries and another slow start.

Matt Ryan was sacked only once. Now, a lot of the discussion around the fan base is the Eagles should have landed Jadeveon Clowney. Recently, Taco Charlton tweeted the eyes emoji and the words ‘free me’ after the Dallas Cowboys decided to make him a healthy scratch for the first two weeks of the season. He deleted said tweet shortly thereafter, but here’s something to think about.

In Charlton, the Eagles could land a former first-rounder who could pay dividends. Unfortunately, it will never work. Philly would have to give the Cowboys draft picks or more, and seeing as how you can actually argue the fact that the Eagles, at this point, may not be as fine-tuned as the Cowboys are, everyone should be able to agree on this.

There’s no move that the Eagles are going to be willing to make that could potentially make the Cowboys better, even if that would mean they could get a nice pass rusher out of the deal.

Despite the fact that, again, the Eagles only brought Matt Ryan down once, this is, potentially, a good pass rush. You can’t run on Philly, so teams are forced to pass. They’re making life uncomfortable for the opposing quarterback. The sacks will come. The Eagles will be fine, but they’ll need a plan for this pass rush.

Charlton is good, but we can promise you that he won’t be a part of that plan. The ITI staff wrote that one down, and then, we crumbled the piece of paper that we wrote that on and threw it away.
