ITI: What is it with Matt Stafford? Are we still waiting on a playoff win after all of these years? At what point do the Lions draft a quarterback and decide that it’s time to move on?

Mullenax: The Lions have posted one playoff win since Dwight D. Eisenhower was president. So winning playoff games was an issue long before Detroit drafted Matthew Stafford with the number-one overall selection back in 2009.

Certainly, his draft status and monster contract have placed postseason expectations squarely on Stafford’s shoulders, fair or not. I’m not sure what the breaking point will be for Detroit, but I believe there is a sense that general manager Bob Quinn and head coach Matt Patricia are on a much hotter seat than Stafford is.

With that being said, if the Lions are going to part ways with, arguably, the greatest quarterback in the history of their franchise, it will be done by a different regime and coaching staff than the one that’s currently in Detroit.
