Are the Philadelphia Eagles really interested in Jacksonville Jaguars cornerback, Jalen Ramsey?

The NFL trade market has been what you would call rich this season. For the first time in a long time, there were multiple ‘blue-chip’ prospects available for the correct price. Throughout the summer, the biggest name being discussed was defensive end, Jadeveon Clowney.

Being that the Philadelphia Eagles love to load up on defensive line depth, they were surely in the mix for Clowney. However, since Clowney’s situation required a team not to be able to change his contract situation until the offseason, it made his trade desire drop for many teams — the Eagles included. Therefore, they didn’t pull the trigger on anything.

The latest trade involved Miami Dolphins defensive back, Minkah Fitzpatrick. The Eagles could’ve used the versatile first-rounder for their secondary as well, but the Pittsburgh Steelers were the candidates who were able to make it happen.

That leaves two prospects traded, and one remaining on the market. The final name happens to be the league’s best cornerback, Jalen Ramsey. Over the past year, Ramsey has had issues with his situation in Jacksonville. As he desires a new contract and his relationship with his head coach sours, it looks like Jacksonville is going to deal him away.

Knowing the Eagles, they will be making a call as always. But just how serious is their interest in the showstopping cornerback?

Could Ramsey to Philly really happen?

Here’s what we know about the Jalen Ramsey trade situation; His price tag right now is firmly set at a first-round pick. However, that’s just a starting price. The Jaguars want more picks (potentially an additional first-rounder) and/or a player to go along with said first-round pick(s).

According to ESPN reporter Dianna Russini, two teams have made significant offers for Ramsey. The anonymous NFC team reportedly offered “a first-round pick and more.” While there are no concrete details on who the NFC team may be, it could very well be Philly. After all, they were no stranger to making offers to Los Angeles in exchange for Melvin Gordon.

Another ESPN writer, Tim McManus also mentioned the Eagles have been “doing their homework” on Ramsey. It’s unclear what they have been able to come up with in their research, but the league’s top cornerback is undoubtedly on the Birds radar.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport updated the trade news on Wednesday, stating that a deal for Ramsey is most likely to happen on Friday. At this point, the Jags just continue to hear offers for their Pro Bowl-caliber cornerback. As the Eagles are in need of defensive help, Ramsey could be extremely beneficial to their secondary. The trade interest is real — we’ll just see how far the Eagles are willing to go to get the star cornerback in midnight green.
