The Philadelphia Eagles are set to take on the Detroit Lions this week. Here are the start/sit prospects for fantasy football.

Fantasy football is a tricky subject. Just when one thinks they have got it figured out, their star player puts up an abysmal performance, and their bench player or some no-name player has a career game.

Injuries also play a key role in determining whether your team will rise or fall. Unfortunately, most fantasy formats do not allow substitutions once the game has begun.

So, if one your starters suffer an injury mid-game, you are stuck with them. Their current total is what you will finish with for that week.

Take Week 2, for example. In the eyes of many fantasy experts and regular players, Philadelphia Eagles’ veteran receivers DeSean Jackson and Alshon Jeffery were lock picks for fantasy lineups.

Especially after the numbers they put up in the season opener, one week before the Atlanta Falcons game. Jackson had as good of a homecoming performance in Week 1, as one could expect. He had a total of eight receptions, for 154 yards and two touchdowns. Jeffery had a solid outing as well; finishing with five receptions, for 49 yards and a touchdown.

Unfortunately, both of the players suffered injuries in the first half. Neither would return. Combined, those two players put up a total of zero fantasy points, as neither of them had receptions, nor were targeted on the night.

The Eagles’ offense did not get going until the second quarter, so that is not too surprising. This week’s match up with the Detroit Lions is expected to have better results. While a number of Eagles players are still dealing with injuries, there are still more than enough play-makers to make a difference on the field.

It also helps that fantasy owners know what they are dealing with, in terms of injuries, so they can get ahead of it early this week, and not have a repeat of what occurred last week.

So, let’s get started.

Who should you start and who should you sit?
