3. Nelson Agholor, WR
When you look at Nelson Agholor’s stat line, it doesn’t look so bad considering he had two touchdowns. That was just his attempt at redemption later on in the game when the veteran wide receiver had already made a plethora of mistakes in an attempt to bounce back from last week.
Remember, Agholor dropped the game-winning touchdown pass last week. That will not be forgotten — especially when he complained about a lack of targets in week one when Alshon Jeffery and DeSean Jackson were out on the field for the offense.
Week 3 was Agholor’s opportunity to prove that he’s worth $9 million. To show that he can step up and be a first-round caliber wide receiver in year five. But he didn’t. He had drops early on and even an ugly fumble after a catch where contact wasn’t even initiated.
Don’t let the box score fool you — Agholor did not play an exceptional game. This is a first-rounder in his fifth year, and it’s become quite clear he is nothing more than a third option, at best in an offense where he only thrives in the slot. It is what it is at this point.
