On a recent episode of the highly-popular Good Morning Football, Peter Shrager gave Philadelphia Eagles head coach Doug Pederson a well-deserved mention.

‘Is it possible to be a Super Bowl-winning head coach and still underrated’? That was the question posed by Peter Schrager on a recent airing of the highly-popular Good Morning Football, which airs Monday through Friday on the NFL Network. In Schrager’s mind, the Philadelphia Eagles‘ head coach, Doug Pederson, just doesn’t get the credit he deserves.

While we all could probably agree on that, the avenues we take could lead us all down varying paths.

Schrager’s was quite interesting. take a look at this one for yourself.

Sure, ‘Dougie P’ will go for two points when it’s absolutely unnecessary. Sure, had the Eagles lost in front of a national audience, that decision probably would have been second-guessed for the rest of this weekend. The Eagles won though, and in taking care of business, Philly remains perfect on Thursday nights under Pederson’s watch.

Twice in the past two seasons, this Eagles team has lost its’ franchise signal-caller in the regular season and had to march towards a playoff push with then-backup Nick Foles. You know how things ended at the end of the 2017-18 season. The Eagles raised their first-ever Lombardi Trophy.

That isn’t even the best part of their story. In order to win the franchise’s first-ever Super Bowl, a game eagles team would have to conquer the greatest dynasty in the history of all of sports, the New England Patriots. Let’s be frank. It’s a nice story either way, but it isn’t the same if they would have had to play the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Schrager is right. Pederson is underrated and undervalued. He wins despite the odds and despite the injuries, and the NFL just keeps giving the Coach of the Year trophies to Sean McVay and Matt Nagy.

One day, the rest of the football world will see what Eagles fans know already. One day, Pederson will get his due. Schrager can see it. So can the best fans in all of sports. Pederson is one of the greatest minds in football. Maybe everyone else will finally figure it out when he raises another Lombardi. That’s a day that Eagles fans hope comes sooner rather than later.
